ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

Effective Date: 2026-02-24

Commitment to Accessibility

Willowwood Arboretum is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible experience for all visitors, both online and in person. Willowwood Arboretum is located on public park land owned and operated by the Morris County Park Commission, and is supported by the Willowwood Foundation through education, fundraising, and public engagement.

Physical Accessibility of the Arboretum

Willowwood Arboretum is not fully ADA compliant.
Due to the historic nature of the property, natural terrain, and landscape design, many areas of the Arboretum include uneven ground, slopes, stairs, and garden paths that are not accessible to all individuals. These physical conditions may limit access for visitors with mobility impairments.

Title III Compliance

Although Willowwood Arboretum is not fully ADA compliant due to these constraints, we make good-faith efforts to meet Title III obligations for places of public accommodation. This includes providing accessible programs, events, and Website content to the extent reasonably achievable.

While reasonable efforts are made to improve access where feasible, structural and environmental constraints prevent full compliance with accessibility standards across the grounds.

Website Accessibility

The Willowwood Foundation strives to ensure that willowwoodarboretum.org is accessible to individuals with a wide range of abilities. We make good-faith efforts to design and maintain the Website in accordance with generally recognized accessibility guidelines, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), to the extent reasonably achievable.

Accessibility features may include readable text, logical navigation, alternative text for images where practicable, and compatibility with assistive technologies. We acknowledge that accessibility is an ongoing process and that some content may not yet be fully accessible.

Requests for Assistance and Improvements

We welcome feedback and requests related to accessibility. If you encounter difficulty accessing content on our Website or wish to request an accommodation or improvement, please contact us:

Email: contactus@willowwoodarboretum.org

We will make reasonable efforts to respond promptly and address accessibility concerns where feasible.

Applicable Laws and Standards

This Accessibility Statement is informed by applicable federal and state laws, including:

  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

    • Title II, which applies to state and local government entities and public services

    • Title III, which applies to places of public accommodation, including nonprofit organizations open to the public

  • Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in programs receiving federal funding

  • New Jersey Law Against Discrimination (N.J.S.A. 10:5-1 et seq.), which prohibits discrimination based on disability in places of public accommodation

While not all areas of Willowwood Arboretum can be made physically accessible, the Foundation remains committed to nondiscrimination and to improving accessibility where reasonable and practicable.

Ongoing Efforts

Accessibility is an evolving goal. We continually review our Website and practices and strive to improve accessibility over time, consistent with our mission and available resources.
